The Last Job is yet another horror demo that I played and downloaded gratis from Steam. It is another short and fully self-contained fun little horror mystery which might take you anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to complete, depending on your aptitude and experience in completing/solving short horror titles. Not overwhelmingly difficult and the few puzzles the game presents can be navigated without too much trouble as your environs and options are kept somewhat to a minimum. There is one challenging puzzle which you will need to look (and think) about from multiple angles and abstractions. And I don’t mean look in the literal sense. You’re going to need to split that last brain cell for that puzzle. It may seem as though I might be talking about something akin to an escape room type of game but do not for one second forget this is a horror title. Because horror surely awaits as you traverse your way to completion.
The setup:
“I worked with someone I met online. They would tip me off about good houses to sack. They knew everything. When the owners are out, what’s inside the place, where are the cameras, back doors or alarms. I never asked them for more.”
That first cerebral puzzle I mentioned above was a doozy and I had to go and find a playthrough for help. Once I realized what that help was, I have to give points to the developer for the originality and logic of that particular puzzle. I wish I had spent a little more time on that puzzle and endured the agony of thinking for what would have been an epic payoff, but frustration and attention span led me to a playthrough. Anyways, just one little somewhat difficult escape room puzzle. If you’re a fan of the survival horror genre this is basically like a quickie itch.io game, which I’ll bet is where it made its debut. I personally picked it up from Steam.
Anyways download it and enjoy if you’re into that sort of thing.
